ATlas is a community-building tool for the ATmosphere designed to refine content feeds by integrating voluntary location data. By opting in, people allow their accounts to be labeled with geographic metadata, enabling developers to build region-specific feeds that more accurately highlight the needs and interests of local communities.

Improved user experience on the ATmosphere does not need to come at the expense of user safety. To ensure privacy and safety, ATlas adheres to these core principles:

Voluntary Participation:

Location labeling is strictly "opt-in"; no user data is processed without explicit consent.

Privacy Protections:

We do not apply location labels to private citizens without their consent.

Public and Private Infrastructure:

While private individuals remain unlabeled, ATlas provides labels accounts of government officials, public institutions, and private-sector entities.

City-Level Focus:

To protect user security, labels are restricted to the city level. ATlas will never share granular street-level data or real-time tracking information.

ATlas lets you add hidden location labels (3) to your Bluesky account for custom feeds and community discovery.

Your account will also be placed into a corresponding ATProto list. These lists can be used by custom feeds to include your posts in your local area.

This repository enables feedmakers to easily create local feeds for any topic.

Terms of Service

1. User Content and Image Uploads

By uploading images to SkyMap, you represent and warrant that:

• You own or have obtained all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to use and upload the image
• You have the right to grant SkyMap a license to display, store, and transmit the image
• The image does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
• The image does not violate any applicable laws or regulations

2. Prohibited Content

You agree NOT to upload images that contain:

• Copyrighted material without authorization from the copyright owner
• Illegal content including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), terrorist content, or content that violates criminal law
• Non-consensual intimate images (revenge porn) or content that violates others' privacy
• Hate speech or content promoting violence, discrimination, or harassment
• Spam or malicious content designed to harm, deceive, or defraud
• Extremely graphic violence or other content inappropriate for public display

3. License to SkyMap

By uploading an image, you grant SkyMap a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to:

• Display the image on the SkyMap platform
• Store and transmit the image through our hosting services
• Use the image for the purposes of operating and promoting the SkyMap service

This license terminates when you remove the image or your account is terminated.

4. Content Moderation and Removal

SkyMap reserves the right, but not the obligation, to:

• Review, moderate, or remove any uploaded image at any time
• Remove images that violate these Terms or applicable law
• Block or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these Terms
• Cooperate with law enforcement and report illegal content as required by law

5. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SkyMap, its operators, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:

• Your use of the SkyMap service
• Any images you upload or link to
• Your violation of these Terms or applicable law
• Any claim that your uploaded images infringe upon any third-party rights

6. DMCA and Copyright

SkyMap respects intellectual property rights. If you believe your copyright has been infringed:

• Please report the infringement using the "Report Image" button
• SkyMap will review and remove infringing content upon verification
• Repeat infringers may have their accounts terminated

7. Reporting Inappropriate Content

If you encounter inappropriate, illegal, or copyrighted content:

• Use the "Report Image" button available on all displayed images
• Select the appropriate reason (copyright, inappropriate, illegal, spam, other)
• Provide additional details if available
• Reports will be reviewed and actioned promptly

8. Consequences of Violations

Violations of these Terms may result in:

• Immediate removal of violating images
• Temporary or permanent suspension of image upload privileges
• Account termination for repeat or serious violations
• Legal action where appropriate, including reporting to law enforcement

9. Disclaimer

SkyMap provides image hosting as a convenience to users. Images are hosted by third-party services (ImgBB). SkyMap is not responsible for:

• The content uploaded by users
• Third-party hosting services or their availability
• Any damages resulting from uploaded images

10. Changes to Terms

SkyMap reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
